We got the Rabbit pickup in North America
(called the Caddy in Eu
rope, if memory serves)
There never was a Golf ute, I don’t think, so pretty sure the one above is a custom job!

Jetta Ute, methinks. A golf wouldn’t have as much rear overhang.

That, and the Jetta front and taillights are a giveaway.

For the segment they are quite competitive, are they not? This generation has been on the market for a longer number of years though, I’ll give you that.

Despite my screen name I don’t actually know many of the model specific nuances. That said, I believe the Golf got the rectangular headlights here in North America for at least part of the Mk II generation, which just adds to the confusion.

Yeah its cheap for it’s size. In germany it’s like 70% company cars.
The materials dont matter to me too much. But driving is not a pleasure mainly due to the gearbox (manual) which is just geared all wrong. The gear lever (which is metall and can’t be touched after sitting in the sun for a while) and the ridiculously small steering wheel.
But yeah it’s still a lot of car for the money.
